Kid Chow offers brown bag-lunches five days a week to families of participating San Francisco schools. The Kid Chow program includes a broad range of healthy, child-friendly menu items every day. Kid chow provides easy web-based daily lunch ordering.
Project Overview:
Kid Chow was looking to create a friendly and warm but easy to use website that allows their users to dynamically order lunch for their children attending participating schools. Project Details:
One of the main features of the site was to build a credit system with credits that could be purchased and used on an as needed basis.
Technologies Used:
- ASP
- MSSQL Database
- Java
- DHTML
Project Features:
- Multiple shopping interfaces
- Content management system
- Web-based lunch ordering
- Dynamic nutritional calculator
- Dynamic lunch menu/details
- Designed look and feel
Project Solution:
PharSide recommended an ASP-based architecture to facilitate and implement the required Kid Chow business rules. The systems core functionality relies on two shopping carts. The first shopping cart allows registered parents to purchase food credits towards future lunch purchases. The second shopping cart purpose is to process customized lunch ordering, added options, and credit deductions from each users account. We then built a dynamic nutritional chart/report based on the selected lunch for any given day and the daily values associated with the child’s age. Additionally, PharSide customized an extensive administration panel which allows Kid Chow personnel to quickly and dynamically generate daily menus as well as manage many variables and content throughout the site.
